Will HHC soon be banned?
According to Health Minister François Braun, it is only a matter of weeks before HHC is banned from consumption and sale in France. He explains that this molecule benefits from a "classification loophole" and that for this reason "they are not classified as narcotic products".
But what is HHC?
HHC, which stands for HexaHydroCannabinol, is a cannabinoid just like CBD or THC. It is present in very small quantities naturally in the cannabis plant, more specifically in the seed and pollen. In 1944, the American chemist Roger Adams succeeded in synthesising it in the laboratory by hydrogenating the THC molecule. As HHC is close to THC in its chemical structure, so too are its effects.
