CBD oil, les questions fréquemment posées:

CBD oil is made up of oil extracted from the cannabis plant "stems, leaves and seeds", to which is added an extraction of the flower for the active ingredient.

It is a substance belonging to the Cannabinoid family called "cannabidiol" CBD, naturally present in the plant at around 0.1 to 2.9%. It is particularly present in the plant's trichromes, like THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, which are two related molecules.

CBD oil has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore much in demand in cases of permanent pain. This is explained by the presence of an endocannabinoid system in all mammals, including humans. A physiological communication system that manages pain, immune response, inflammation, appetite, memory, mood and emotions. CBD oil helps to restore balance to any disturbances in the human body.

In everyday life, it is used for both humans and animals. It has relaxing and analgesic effects, but does not give you a high because of the absence of THC, the molecule responsible for the psychotropic effects.

In general, the oil helps to alleviate pain, including chronic pain. With its ability to enable consumers to rest better and relax, it also has the power to give you better quality sleep at night. CBD oil is therefore a very practical substance in the hands of human beings to relieve themselves of the unavoidable pain we have to endure at some point in our lives.

There are three types of CBD oil: Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum and CBD isolate only. The first two are the most popular with users, as they are more effective and contain all the molecules found in hemp, unlike the third, which contains only CBD.

All the molecules contained in the oil produce an entourage effect, in other words, a synergistic action of all the elements, making it more effective.

It should be pointed out that only the THC content differentiates full-spectrum oils from broad-spectrum oils. In a full-spectrum CBD oil, THC levels, depending on the strain of cannabis used, may be equal to or less than 0.3%, which is the current legal level in France. Above this level, the oils and flowers would be illegal. In broad spectrum oil, a large proportion of the THC is removed to obtain a level of no more than around 0.05%.

Full spectrum oil is the most effective, but it does require a few precautions, such as not taking it before driving or during pregnancy or breast-feeding for women.

Broad Spectrum oil has fewer contraindications for pregnant women because of its low THC content. At high doses, CBD relaxes you and slows down your reflexes. Be careful on the road, at the slightest sign of drowsiness, stop!

It is also possible to obtain CBD oil from a mixture of CBD crystals or CBD Isolate, which is less expensive but a little less effective due to the absence of the other molecules.

In addition, the base of your oil may be hemp oil or MCT 'coconut oil', olive oil, walnut oil, sunflower oil or hazelnut oil, each oil providing its own nutrients. Some people have a bit of trouble with the slightly acrid taste of hemp, so we use different oils as a base, some like MCT, which is neutral in taste, can have mint or chamomile added to give them a flavour or a little extra effect.

Note that the oil derived from the hemp plant is the most sought-after because it is derived 100% from Cannabis and contains omega 3 and 6. Over the years, it has gained in popularity thanks to its qualities as a food supplement. The others, on the other hand, have almost the same effects, only the taste changes depending on the plant used.

From the outset, it is important to note that the appropriate dose varies according to each individual, as the tolerance threshold for the substance is never the same.

However, consumption can take several forms. The most common method is by mouth, and even then there are different ways of taking it. The easiest is to take a few drops directly. This is the simplest and quickest way to take the product, as it passes through the throat and is dispersed directly into the body.

Then, still by mouth, you can also apply the drops under the tongue (sublingual route). In this case, the effect will be slower, as the oil is diffused through the mouth without being swallowed. It takes a little time, but is effective in many cases. In both cases, you can rinse your mouth out a few minutes later with a glass of water to get rid of the more or less unpleasant taste in your mouth. The effects will be felt within ten or fifteen minutes.

CBD oil can also be taken orally by adding a few drops to food or drink before eating or drinking. It's a very practical method, because you won't even have the impression of swallowing it. This is because the taste and smell will be hidden among those of the dish. But the effects will appear very late, as the CBD will have to pass through your digestive system. But in any case, it will have an effect at some point, and this will take longer than the previous one.

For vapers, the oil can be inhaled. Simply dilute the oil in the liquid used with the vaporiser.

As an alternative to the oral route, the oil can also be taken through the skin. The oil is applied directly to the skin as a cosmetic product in small doses, or diluted in other oils for CBD massages.

Obviously, it will take a long time for the oil to have the desired effect, but what counts here is the end result. The final recommendation is not to drink or smoke before consuming cannabidiol oil so as not to disturb the pre-analysed concentration.

Each CBD oil contains very different quantities of cannabinoids. Whatever the effect you are looking for or the symptom you want to treat, it's the dosage that will determine how effectively you take it. Each person's weight, height and age must be taken into account to ensure that the right dose is used for each individual.

In relation to weight, the study showed that people with a higher body mass will need more CBD and will feel the desired effect. As a result, a rule has been established to determine the most appropriate dose of cannabidiol, which is between 1mg and 6mg for every 5kg of body weight. This gives a daily dose of 20mg to 33mg for a person weighing around 90kg. A person weighing less than 70 kg can start at 15 to 25 mg a day.

It's worth noting that each bottle of CBD oil comes with a dropper so you can specify the dosage. However, to dose correctly, you need to know the amount of CBD in the bottle and the amount in each drop. This is very important, because the number of drops to be taken varies according to the dosage and CBD concentration of your bottle. The higher the dosage, the more concentrated the oil.

It's also important to start with a low dose and gradually increase. This is because each person's body chemistry is different, so the body's reaction to CBD will be different for each consumer.

You need to give your body time to adjust so that it can get used to and gradually begin to enjoy the benefits of cannabidiol. Understanding the theoretical dosages in relation to height and weight is therefore a first step, but the body's reaction to the first quantities is certainly not negligible. All you then have to do is gradually increase the dose, while continuing to monitor how it feels and the results, until you have your own dosage.

Finally, to choose the right dosage, the person's medical condition must be clearly determined. The amount of CBD needed for someone who is slightly ill and someone who is seriously ill will not be the same. This part is generally reserved for CBD specialists with the involvement of doctors.

Extracting CBD oil is a good way of testing CBD. Before even testing the oil, you first need to know where it comes from. This means first finding out what type of plant they used to extract the oil. The first step is to test the CBD flowers. The criteria for testing are as follows:

  • Smell: in order to recognise its quality and CBD content, we take into account the intensity of the aroma and fragrance it gives off;
  • Colour: a bright colour means good quality and indicates a high CBD content.
  • Appearance: the head should be separated from the small leaves.

The next step is to evaluate the CBD oil. There are several methods for extracting cannabidiol, some of which even make the oil harmful. The presence of other substances, as in the case of using ethanol to extract it, can easily be detected by a breathalyser test.

CBD oil has no psychoactive effects. This means that it acts as a THC modulator. Increasing its concentration attenuates the psychoactive effects of THC. Professor Nicolas Authier states that CBD acts on the central nervous system, but does not alter the state of consciousness. This means that it acts on the brain to reduce stress and anxiety, while also providing other benefits.

It could also act as an anaesthetic, as CBD consumption can reduce bodily pain. It is therefore not considered to be a psychoactive substance, as it does not affect the consumer's state of mind or consciousness.

The presence of other substances such as butane at the time of extraction could still give the oil psychoactive properties. Isolated spectrum oils are CBD oils that contain only CBD.

A regular consumer will always want a higher dose than the previous one to qualify it as 'good'. Everyone has their own criteria and ways of choosing the right oil. However, there are some general criteria for choosing the right CBD oil.

Firstly, it's vital to find out about the geographical origin of the hemp used. It's best to look for areas where there is the least pollution. Next, when it comes to the way it's grown, organic or bio-grown hemp is recommended, as it doesn't involve the use of pesticides.

If that doesn't satisfy you yet, then choose between full spectrum or isolated spectrum. It is advisable to opt for the isolated spectrum. Finally, don't forget to refer to reliable brands and labels. Avoid new labels that are being launched on the market until you have received positive feedback on their products.

The composition and concentrations of each component should be clearly visible on the packaging. Information on each drop and information on the entire bottle. Knowing this information helps a lot when choosing an oil for its intended use, because cannabidiol concentrations can be very high and can become dangerous if the body is not ready for them. If crystals are used to make the oil, other materials may be found at the end of the process, which will be listed among the ingredients.

An overview of a handful of scientific studies has revealed the medical usefulness of CBD. So CBD oil can cure certain diseases. Researchers have approved that the use of CBD oil can treat:

  • Alzheimer's disease ;
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) ;
  • Parkinson's disease
  • stroke;

It can also reduce inflammation, which can aggravate neurodegenerative symptoms. So the effects of CBD oil on the receptors in your brain can also help you manage pain. This means it has a relieving effect.

What's more, CBD oil helps to treat acne. One study showed that the oil inhibited the activity of the sebaceous glands. However, before considering the use of CBD oil for the treatment of acne, it is essential to discuss the matter with your dermatologist. Further human studies are needed to assess the potential benefits of CBD for acne.

CBD oil is stored in the same way as food. This means placing it in a cool place, away from direct contact with light and protected from UV rays. The best place to do this is in the cupboard.

Storing it in a refrigerator seems like an alternative, but this would degrade the texture of the oil and make it harder to take. It is therefore advisable not to store it at a temperature above 21°C.

However, the oil should be removed from the fridge 10 minutes before consumption. The ideal temperature for the oil is 17°C. This is the temperature that will prolong the life of the product.

CBD oil is a perishable product, without the best conditions. The product can be consumed up to 6 months before opening. If you exceed this deadline, the quality of the CBD will deteriorate. The expiry date also shows the durability of the oil.

Although its reputation is based on the benefits of CBD, it does have a few side effects. And since reports are rare, it's considered to be non-existent. Unlike THC, CBD does not have psychoactive properties. Nor does it cause dependence, unlike other drugs on the market.

The side effects of CBD are not serious enough. The most common are

    • dry mouth ;
    • dizziness and lightheadedness
    • nausea;
    • stomach discomfort;
    • digestive problems
    • headaches;
    • reduced appetite

However, taking larger doses can cause vomiting and diarrhoea, fatigue and drowsiness.

Furthermore, excessive consumption of CBD is the only way to cause side effects. Consumption of less than 1500 mg per day will not affect the body's condition. In all the centuries since this oil has been on the market, there has never been a reported death linked to taking it.

The entourage effect comes from the interaction of the hemp molecules, which complement each other and reinforce the CBD effect.

Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum e-liquids have all the molecules from hemp and therefore bring you this entourage effect and are therefore more effective.
